In short, FTP is a standard protocol for file transfer between a server and a client. It is a fast and convenient way to send files over the internet. For a more secure way of transferring files, use the 'SFTP' transport type.

Monitoring
For FTP and SFTP locations it is possible to set up a corresponding Monitor item directly from this page.
After clicking "Add monitor", you will be presented with all relevant settings for a new monitor item.
When this information has been filled out and you press "Save" on the location, a monitor item is created and you can see it in the Monitor status page.
